Morais Vineyard and Winery

Fauquier County is known by many as “wine country.” This is primarily because there are over twenty wineries in this area. The other day I visited the Morais Vineyard and Winery located out in Bealeton, Virginia. Not that I am a wine connoisseur by any means, but this was one of the most beautiful vineyards I have ever visited.

Owned by a Portuguese family, the Morais Vineyard and Winery first started producing great wine over 20 years ago. Just over a year ago, the actual building with 2 tasting rooms, wine cellar and a large ballroom, was opened on the property to host events and welcome people from all around to come and enjoy the delicious wine.

The Morais Vineyard and Winery has graciously listed our hotel, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites, as preferred hotel accommodations in the local area. Our main goal at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites is to guarantee people have a place to sleep every night, with subtle reminders of the comforts of home around every corner. If you are having an event at the Morais Vineyard and Winery and need hotel accommodations for out of town guests, please contact us immediately and speak with our sales representative.  For more information on Morais Vineyard and Winery, please visit the website directly at www.moraisvineyards.com

Virginia Oaks Golf Course

One of the many great things about the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Warrenton is its central location to a variety of different local attractions that are just a short distance away from the hotel. Many times when people are in town for certain events such as weddings, reunions, or corporate events, they have some down time which is when they start looking for activities to do in the local area. One recommendation that we often offer to our guests is to check out the local golf courses in the area. One golf course that is highly recommended is the Virginia Oaks Golf Course in Gainesville, VA. The Virginia Oaks Golf Course is one of Northern Virginia’s most memorable and challenging golf courses. Come out to this premiere location and show off your golf skills, while taking in the beautiful backdrop of Lake Manassas. The Virginia Oaks Golf Course is located just 12 miles north of Warrenton, Virginia, just off US-29 North/Lee Hwy. For more information on this golf course, visit the website at http://www.virginiaoaksgc.com/index.php

Twilight Polo

One of the bigger events to do on a Saturday night during the summer months in Fauquier County is attend a twilight polo match. Twilight polo matches start in late May and end in early September. They take place at the Great Meadow farm in The Plains, Virginia, located just minutes outside Warrenton. Polo is a very big event in Fauquier County because this area is known as “horse country.” Great Meadow is the host to the Virginia Gold Cup races that take place in early May and is said to be one of the best playing polo surfaces from New York to South Carolina. There are more than 20,000 people that come out and attend the twilight polo matches during the summer months. Fans set up tailgates and picnics while taking in the exciting double feature polo matches that occur every Saturday night. There are several food vendors that are on site as well for those people who don’t want to bother with their own tailgates. Some of the area’s best BBQ and fun live entertainment is all found at Great Meadow during the summer. Gates open at 6:30pm, with the first match starting at 7:00pm. Tickets are $30.00 per carload or $10.00 for people coming alone. Visit the official Great Meadow website for more information on this fun summer activity at http://www.greatmeadow.org.
