Being physically fit and teaching children how important it is to
be active seems to be a constant struggle that we, as a society, are facing today.
That’s why I always think it is extremely important when different organizations
join together to promote the benefits of physical fitness. The parents,
teachers and students of the C. Hunter Ritchie Elementary School in Fauquier
County are coming together this weekend on Sunday, April 29th for
the Fly like an Eagle 5K Race. The event will start at the Inn at Vint Hill
Farms and will begin at 8:00am. The registration fee for adults to sign up and
run is $20.00 and $15.00 for kids, ages 5-11.
Not only does this race show kids
how important it is to be active and maintain a healthy lifestyle, but the
proceeds made from this race all go directly to the C. Hunter Ritchie
Parent-Teacher Organization. The Parent-Teacher Organization has a goal of
initiating more events that help students and their families develop good fitness
habits. Each registered runner in the race will receive a free t-shirt in their
race packet. If you still haven’t
registered for the race, there is still time! Just visit the official website
at www.flylikeaneagle5k.com/#details
for complete information on the race.
