There are over 200 wineries and vineyards across the entire state of Virginia. Within Fauquier County, there are approximately 23 wineries, ranging from Delaplane to Warrenton to Hume. Each winery has something special and unique to offer those wine connoisseurs in the area. There are many different activities to partake in at wineries. Most wineries offer tours to the public that usually includes an idea of the wine making process as well as a walkthrough of the facility. There is usually a tasting room where people can go and sample anywhere from three to twelve different wines that are made at that particular winery. Tasty treats like cheese, ham and olives are often offered to accompany the different wine flavors as well.
I have personally only visited one winery in the area which was Molon Lave Vineyards. The vineyard is located in the beautiful countryside of Fauquier County. Although we weren’t given a tour of the facility, we did participate in a wine tasting and tried approximately five different wines. Molon Lave Vineyards is the sister winery to Pearmund Cellars which is also located in Fauquier County. There are many other wineries that I would like to visit in the area. Wineries are both a great activity for groups and most are centralized in scenic areas that attract a lot of brides-to-be for potential wedding ceremonies. If you are ever in Fauquier County looking for something different to do on your weekend off, visit one of the many wineries in the area.
